With my LinkedIn training, I guide you on the areas that are most important to you, for example — your Headline, Summary, Specialties and Current and Past Experiences. Author of LinkedWorking, Lewis Howes, says, using the right keywords in all 5 places will greatly raise your search ranking. I’ve seen that work for numerous clients and it can have dramatic results.
I’m also a social media consultant for small and midsize businesses. I especially love working with business owners that are go-getters to craft their social media strategy. What I like the most is their burning desire to become savvy themselves (ahha!), a thought leader, get new business or form strong partnerships with their connections (contacts) as a result of being “social” in a big way!
Here’s my background, essentially my ‘Why’ if Simon Sinek were reading:
I started out my career working in corporate libraries and ultimately, learning dbase to manage lists. I learned early on how important it was to be super resourceful and technologically savvy.
It just so happens, in my first full-time position, I also became a manager responsible for a telemarketing staff and the audience development for CEO-level conferences. I traveled around the world and became quite the leader and host, always smiling and always accommodating.
It suited me well to be very gracious and always giving of myself to every initiative I set my mind to.
Before long, I was finding opportunities beyond audience development to that of marketing management, spending some of the most rewarding periods marketing print and online subscriptions, from SMOKE Magazine to the most expensive capital markets magazine in the world, IFR.
As I progressed in my career, I moved into more strategic marketing roles, which meant being visionary and setting goals, plans and seeing beyond just the black and white. I loved interacting with sales people and being a trainer for multiple product launches. I thrived and felt inspired to continue to accelerate my career that way.
But, I was always drawn to the technology: contact databases, lead and sales conversion tables, pricing and profit margin analyses, and ultimately creating websites. I just had to get to know the nuts and bolts of the marketing tools, which at the time were websites that unfortunately, were just online brochures.
In late 2008, I began a home-based consulting practice with an emphasis on the online media and the new social media technologies of today’s age. I decided to school myself in the new social media marketing realties in a big way attending courses and applying what I learned to grow my business.
And, so, here was another area for me to eat up in my thirst for being knowledgable about the technologies and soon knew every facet of how to optimize, communicate and turn my LinkedIn profile, Facebook page and Twitter account into an “OPEN for business” sign.
