Yes, it’s PERSONAL
Business is increasingly more personal every day, especially with the ‘you are what you publish’ mentality made famous by David Meerman Scott. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, your website blog and YouTube videos offer a tremendous opportunity to gain personal brand exposure. And, when a person buys anything new these days, they most certainly want to know ‘who’ is behind the brand, the service, the product. Yes, it’s most definitely personal.
A client asked me, “Do I need to really say that?” Yes! It’s just a fact of life that all the eyeballs are moving away from traditional marketing and towards the living, breathing online arena. Facebook is a perfect example, where the conversation can instantly sway from talking about kids’ latest achievements to watching the latest “Will it Blend” video in a matter of a few scrolls down the page. Is it no wonder brands are showing their softer sides on social media sites where we hang out?
If your posture on social media is more personal today, you win.
PS Don’t mistake what I mean about “personal,” I’m not talking about it in the “private” sense. The personal I’m talking about is the opposite of formal and stodgy.
